Advert policies
What we will and will not run
Last updated: 24 September 2026
These rules keep our sites honest and pleasant to use, and they apply to every advert, whether you supply it or we build it.
Review before anything runs
Each advert is checked against these policies before it goes live. We may ask you to change wording, an image or a link, and we may decline an advert. A basic advert we build for you is approved by you before it runs.
What we accept
Adverts from real businesses and services that are legal in South Africa, describe what they offer plainly, and link to a working page that matches the advert.
What we do not accept
- Illegal products or services, and anything that helps people break the law.
- Adult content, and content that promotes hatred or violence.
- Gambling and get-rich-quick schemes.
- Misleading claims, fake reviews, invented prices or guarantees that cannot be kept.
- Downloads or links that hide what they are, and pages that ask for passwords or banking details.
- Adverts that imitate another business, a government body or a bank.
Claims and proof
If an advert states a price, a saving, a qualification or a result, you must be able to show us that it is true. We may ask for proof before the advert runs.
Regulated services
Adverts for financial, health and legal services must show the provider's registration or licence details where South African rules require them. Financial services adverts must show the provider's FSP licence number.
Quality
Wording must be clear and free of obvious errors. Images must be sharp, you must have the right to use them, and text in images must be readable on a phone. Capital letters throughout, excessive punctuation and flashing effects are not allowed.
The page your advert links to
The link must open a public page on its own, load properly on a phone and match what the advert promised. We may stop an advert whose page stops working.
Full-page adverts
Full-page adverts follow extra rules that protect visitors. They always show a working close button, appear at most once per visit and never trap the visitor. The details are on the formats page.
If a rule is broken
We may pause or remove an advert that breaks these policies, or that we learn is misleading. We will tell you why so it can be corrected where possible.
Changes to these policies
We may update these policies. The date at the top shows when they were last revised.
